Although BoatShed Cheese is a very young entity, we have been thrilled to receive many notable awards.

May 2016

BoatShed Cheese is thrilled to receive a 2016 Gold Medal at the prestigious Queensland Dairy Awards for our newest cheese, Halloumi. Our version is a blend of goat, cow and buffalo milk and has a wonderful complex flavour and caramelises beautifully, but also absolutely delicious served uncooked when grated, shaved or sliced.

Very happy to announce another great set of results at the Cheese Awards as part of the RASV (Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria). We won a lovely gold medal for our aptly named Compass Gold as well as Silver medals for Horizon (goat cheese), Goat Curd and Persian Feta.

Further to this award, last week we won Champion Cheese for our Compass Gold.

Its been a very busy week for judges at the 2015 International Cheese Awards in Nantwich, England. With well over 4000 cheese entries from around the world, we were thrilled to receive 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals for our 5 entries. Our “Compass Gold” and “Beach Box Brie” as well as “Buffalo Snow” were the highest scoring entries in their section with “Compass Gold” highest scoring ‘washed rind’, and our brie, the highest scoring ‘ soft/semi soft of Australian entries.

In August 2014, we sent four cheeses to the biggest cheese competition in the world and were stunned to received 2 gold medals (Compass Gold and Persian Feta) , a silver medal (Black Pearl) and a bronze medal (Jersey Blue/Beach Box Brie). The event in Nantwich, England has over 4000 entries so we were particularly surprised and thrilled with our success.

July 2014, we won “Champion Cheese” and a gold medal at the Queensland Dairy Awards for our Pure Goat Curd. This was particulrly satisfying as goat curd is such a clean, simple cheese and there is simply no where to hide. According to the head judge, either it is very good… or it isn’t!

Also in July 2014, we were a finalist in the ABC Delicious Awards for our Persian Feta. This competition promotes and endorses artisan products across Australia and the selection process in incredibly rigorous and we were very proud to be in such good company.

In 2013 we were thrilled to receive several awards at the Victorian and Australian Dairy Industry Awards in early May. Most notably, our Black Pearl was named “Best Victorian Goat Cheese” while in the National awards, the same cheese was named “Best Non-Bovine Cheese” in Australia. This is a huge accolade and we are both thrilled and humbled to have been judged so highly by our peers.
